San Francisco: the rundown

Here, mostly without comment, is the list I kept of all the stuff I did (ate, mostly) in SF. Will elaborate more later. Thanks to Masha, Anna, Luke, Juliet, Naomi, Karl, Tess and Noa for showing me a great time, letting me sleep in your homes, and generally making me feel welcome in a new favorite city. 

Day one:

• Mangoes w chili lemon juice and salt on mission
• Bi-rite ice cream salted caramel and brown sugar w Ginger caramel swirl
• Dolores park
• Coffee bar
• Pirate store/826
• Paxton gate
• Tacqueria cancun on mission, chicken burrito I couldn’t finish
• Elbo room

Day two:

• Tartine
• the Castro
• Ritual
• Oakland (Temescal)
• Burma superstar
• Walk to Berkeley
• Have you heard about this Nude Sushi place?
• Triple rock brewery
• Berkeley rep- “concerning strange devices from the distant west”
• Jupiter brewery

Day three:

• Ferry bldg: THE HAPPIEST PLACE ON EARTH
• Maple bacon donut from farmers mkt, blue bottle cold brewed iced coffee
• Tacos from tacolicious—trio of carnitas, short rib, and veggie 
• (squash) with citrus punch
• Cowgirl creamery, assembled a cheeseplate
• BART back to 24/Mission
• Phil’z coffee—great despite that posessive Z which is a huge turnoff.
• Humphrey slocombe
• Haight/ashbury, panhandle, golden gate park (w00k den)
• Amoeba
• Karl and Naomi’s for dinner
• Zeitgeist

Day four:

• Four barrel coffee
• Cafe Zuni
• Fort mason
• In N Out burger
• Ferry bldg again—blue bottle coffee
• To Anna’s
• Nopalito w Juliet—really good mexican
• Luke’s apt, then out on Polk street

Day five:

• Sandwich, strawberries, mate at whole foods
• Dolores park; sunburn
• Ritual, drip coffee
• Creme brûlée man
• Bar Tartine- asparagus w craime fraiche, bread pudding, dates stuffed 
• w bleu
• Chez panisse

Day six:

• Piccino: lamb cazuela
• Golden gate park
• Blue bottle kiosk
• Ritual again
• La Taqueria
• Amnesia
• Pizzeria Delfina

Day seven:

• Boogaloo’s (sp?)
• Taqueria Cancun- six burritios to go for the freezer back home, and Jonathan’s birthday burrito party
• Back to Ferry Building- more goods to go, Blue Bottle iced coffee (cold brew!), Salame arugula sandwich from Boccalone
• SFO.
